Technically, you CAN install MS Office on this laptop but given how little storage you have, you may max out the storage capacity. Once storage is full, the computer becomes very slow and inefficient. And depending on how large her Word files are, she may need to save them on either a USB flash drive or external hard drive. Better to get a laptop with more storage than try to find workaround solutions to the limited storage.

There is only 64GB of total storage space on this device so there is not room to load many programs. Your mother should have enough room to load her PDF editing software on this device. Microsoft Office software is already loaded on this system as part of the operating system. There is a 30-day trial of Microsoft Office 365. Once the trial period is over a product key is necessary to activate the software. An existing 2010 or newer version of Microsoft Office may work, if it is transferable to a new computer. You will need to check this with Microsoft.
