To start the trial, you have to put in your credit card info, which will auto bill after the trial, so make sure you cancel before the trial ends unless you want to continue. Office is available for free online at Office.com, or buy Office 2019 for a one time fee. There are also other programs such as Office Libre' that are free.

You can purchase a subscription to Office 365 with an annual payment dependent on the version of Office 365 you choose or you can purchase a one-time charge license to Microsoft Office, the price of which would depend on the version of Office you purchase.
