What software are you looking to download? Also, are you talking about being connected to the internet, flash drives, cdrom, disc, etc. to download said software? All can be accomplished with the correct hardware. So, yes you can download and install software to this laptop. However, running high graphic intensive games or programs on this device is not recommended as the hardware specs are not sufficient to do so.
