Q: QuestionHow much RAM does the actual operating (being windows 11 system use? I’ve gotten the vibe windows 11 can be quite a heavy Ram user (unless you are able to know how to really set up things on the machine).

• A:Answer WIN 11 will marginally work with 4 GIGS of RAM. it works O K with 8 GIGS of RAM. For it to work well, 16 GIGS is recommended. If you buy a laptop, your first question should be, "Is this upgradable?" For a few years now, RAM has been soldered in, or imbedded. There are still some brands that simply have RAMM clipped in, thus upgradable. Run a scan to see the upper limit of RAM that can be supported.

To start, based on what you shared, we believe that the laptop's Privacy Shutter is still partially obstructing the camera. Please ensure that the Privacy Shutter is completely open by using the small slider, directly above the webcam lens. Move the tab to the right to open the Privacy Shutter. There is a red dot over the webcam lens that will disappear when the Privacy Shutter is fully open, but if partially moved, you may not notice this. The Red Dot will appear over the webcam lens when the Privacy Shutter is completely closed. If your camera is still not functional after fully opening the shutter, please let us know so that we can try another approach to figure out what's going on. • A:Answer No optical drive whatsoever. It will be very difficult for you to find a laptop with one, and those you may find will probably be older designs or used. You might have some luck with the few desktops that still include them. Reasons they aren't around anymore: save space, money and weight; improve cooling; speed (it's an old technology). Flash drives, or SD cards are faster and store more than even Blu-ray drives. If you really need one (e.g., watch a movie while in transit), buy an external drive (price: around $20-$50).

• A:Answer Computers have lacked any type of manual for DECADES, so this should be no surprise to you. Reasons include saving money, saving on weight, unnecessary and "looking" easier. In fact, Steve Jobs explicitly aimed for this last with the original Macintosh in 1984, envisioning a machine so intuitive it needed no instructions and stating he wanted a computer users could learn in 20 minutes. Also, what a beginner needs is not what an experienced person requires, as well as what programs should be emphasized: do people need to know Word or Excel more? How about neither, but PowerPoint is essential? Or maybe none of these, but overclocking without damage is vital? And what do they need to tell you about scanning if you will never, ever scan a photo or document in your life? On the plus side, the publishing industry and various companies have made a fortune on books and courses that are hand-tailored to your exact requirements. Microsoft, YouTube, and various user forums (such at Reddit) will also "talk" you through multiple scenarios. Finally, some activities are almost as simple plug and play--you don't need to know anything! A standout in this is with printers: basically any printer will work with any computer, right out of the box: just connect and turn on power.

Just as a general rule, however, I advise buying as early as you can, especially since there is no telling when, or if, the item will be on sale again, and, of course, any company is subject to variables it has no control over that will affect prices: Trump's tariffs, rising oil (and therefore manufacturing and shipping prices) and the demands of AI centers are of particular note. RAM alone has increased in price 200-400% this year, and drives (both solid state and platter) have increase 50%; neither is expected to go back down for the next year, and RAM may not decrease for two years.
