Save your money and get OpenOffice. It is a free program that reads and writes MS Office suite files. Fully 100% compatible. I've been using it for decades.

Adding more information: after the 30-day free trial, your options are: 1. Subscribe to Microsoft 365 (the new rebrand for the Office Suite). There are many variations, depending on what programs you need, how many computers you want to install on, how long the subscription period, your type of use (Student, Business). 2. You can still purchase a non-subscription version, again with different parts. If you don't absolutely need the latest bells and whistles, you can buy the prior version for under $50. 3. You can subscribe to Office Basic, only $2/mo. 4. You have limited free use of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, through the browser, one at a time. 5. You can get the free non-Microsoft Office Suite from Kingsoft.
