“I'm 64 and never owned a laptop. Can I get new one ready to use? I browse the internet, use AOL email, download and send pictures, use for information, want to hook up a printer/fax/xerox/scanner to it, need spyware and protection, download PDF documents, do NOT play games, save stuff I get off sites, do not watch TV, need wireless, can fix itself if I mess up, does not have to be super fast. Would this be good laptop for me? Can someone put in all the stuff I said I needed before sending it to me so it's ready to use? Does it cost extra?”

This computer might be more than you need based on your description. It has pretty high specs. It will definitely handle what you want it to do. I think that getting them to add the anti-virus/spyware is covered if you buy their Geek Squad protection plan, but otherwise would cost extra. Your best bet is go in and talk to one of the sales people in the computer department.

You should understand two things before sinking any money into a new laptop. Windows 8.1 will come with spyware and virus protection and it is an OS that can be refreshed by the end user easily. No need to pay someone. Second, you need to make sure your printer will work with windows 8.1. Old printers may not have drivers.

I went to Best Buy bought this computer, software, spyware and Geek Squad protection and in an hour they installed everything on it and had it ready for use. Not sure if they can install before they ship to you. I would suggest calling them and tell them exactly what you want. Also when you buy Geek Squad protection they can help you over the phone with any other in house installation or issue you may have. My experience has been very positive with Best Buy!. Hope my response help you make your decision.
