“Beyond the silicon molded keyboard covers, are there covers for the keyboard to protect it when folded in tablet mode? A hard or semi soft cover that will stay on the keyboard protecting it while it lays flat on a table for instance?”

I bought a cover for the outside of the entire pc. It comes in two parts. I also bought a protective keyboard cover (pack of 2) and a screen protector for the exact model. My daughter takes it to school everyday, and she does not have any other protection. So far, so good.

We are not aware of any keyboard covers, similar to what you describe. There are some elastic sleeves that can hold both the entire device and then cover just the keyboard, as you describe.
