“Some are claiming to get 8-10 hrs of battery on laptop with the 4K UHD. We are using battery saver, setting display@30-50% brightness & can't get even 6-7. Please advise what/how to improve this. Have updtd all software, bios, etc. SOS!!! Thx.”

This is an update to the question I posted above and how the problem was solved. Per Lenovo expert, battery life on 4K UHD should still be in 8-10 hour range. I went to Geek Squad to see if they could help diagnose or adjust...alas not. Thus, I exchanged for a new one. New one is the dream machine...battery life up to 8-13 hours! Fan barely runs, is totally quiet even when running (didn't even have to switch to quiet mode on the bios), and the machine is cool. (Previous one was too hot to sit on lap at times. Fan was constantly running when laptop was open, but not even doing anything and yet machine was still overly hot. Clearly there was something wrong with that one.) I haven't had to make the myriad adjustments recommended to get the increased battery life or silence the fan or anything. If you are struggling with these things, just exchange it! Clearly not all these machines are identical internally and obviously one configuration of components works better together than the other configuration. Lenovo...take notice. The complaints are real and the machines really are not all performing the same. The ones that work are a dream, but the ones that don't are quite problematic. If you get one that works, it's an awesome laptop. Oh, and the shift key and page up key issue that most are complaining about is so easy to swap with the KeyTweak free app. And the black keys are snap ons so you can actually carefully lift off the two key tops and swap their places so they match the remapped key assignments you make with KeyTweak. PERFECT!!!

Battery life is a function of the work the device is performing. Additionally, with regard to the battery life, try changing your power management setting to a more conservative one. You can do this in the control panel, in the power management category on your system. Select a more conservative power management setting to extend battery life.
