It is part of the things you can do to increase battery life. Also try changing your power management setting to a more conservative one. You can do this in the control panel, in the power management category on your system. Select a more conservative power management setting to extend battery life. The battery life of this model, with UHD settings is up to 9 hours, depending on the work that the device is performing.

Unless you use your notebook for screen rendering intensive tasks, the saving will be mostly at an expense of less GPU use and saving could be offset by nature of your tasks as well. Apart from that the whole screen area is anyway lit up. At most some extra 15 minutes gain observed. Much more battery can be saved by decreasing screen brightness and balancing CPU productivity (combine your options via Windows Power Settings / Lenovo tools) - impact for my setup was 1.5-2 hours.
