• The 9i that I have does have an ambient light sensor. Using Lenovo Vantage in the Settings area, select Input Accessories. Look for the Keyboard backlight section, and select Auto. Auto mode will adjust the backlight according to the ambient lighting and keyboard usage.

• I think you are wrong. Mine adjusts to different lighting situations. I use mine both inside and outside.
