Hi Philip, unfortunately there is no cure for tinnitus. However, many hearing aid wearers have found that hearing aids assist with reducing the symptoms of tinnitus as the hearing aid makes sounds, which you may not otherwise hear, audible, which may drown out the tinnitus. Most people report at least some relief when using hearing aids.

There is nothing in their literature about curing tinnitus, and I don’t think they are currently designed to improve tinnitus. However, when I go outside, I hear birds chirp. Inside, I hear soft, quiet noises like the sound of my slippers on the carpet. My understanding of tinnitus is it’s the brain’s creating noise after you’ve lost some of your hearing. I was a Navy aircrewman, did construction and have normal, age related hearing loss in the higher frequencies. I have mild tinnitus, and with my new hearing aids, I’m not constantly saying “What?” I suspect if you have bad tinnitus, you should consult a doctor or an audiologist.
