I want to be able to set the timer on the microwave for 10 minutes while I boil a potato on the stove. While that timer is counting down those 10 minutes I want to cook frozen veggies for 6 minutes.

Can the timer work as a timer while the microwave is cooking?

My current (and all my previous) microwave oven can/could do this. This is an extremely important feature for me. I wish to find a mid-size microwave that can run the timer as the time while also cooking. In other words, be able to use the microwaves timer as a timer while food is cooking, thus they are separate functions that can function at the same time.

Please advise.

Yes, both functions can operate at the same time, though the cooking time is displayed until finished after which it switches back to the timer. I had never thought of using both at the same time. So I just tried it and it works! Good to know for my personal use. Thanks for the question.

Yes, the kitchen timer can run while the microwave is cooking. We were pleasantly surprised to find this.

yes it can do more than 1 thing at a time not like to older models.

Yes, the timer and cook functions can be used concurrently. You can begin with either function and start the other and both will run simultaneously, with the first function running in the background.

Yes, it can be done. I tested this using a cup of water. First, I set the timer to 10 minutes and hit Start. Next, I placed the cup in the oven and selected 3 mins. After 30+ seconds, I stopped the oven and removed the cup of water. I depressed stop again to clear the remaining 3 mins and noticed that the time was at 9:08 seconds; meaning that it took me ~20 seconds to stop; clear; observe, etc.

Yes it does. Pressing the kitchen timer button brings back up the display after it's been set.

Then the answer is that you can only set the timer for the length of period that you are cooking the vegetables for or whatever you might be cooking in the microwave. You will not be able to use the timer function on the microwave for something that you're cooking outside of that microwave especially if what you're cooking on the oven is for a longer duration. You might want to verify this with the Customer Information Center (800) 243-0000 since the owner's manual does not get that technical with regards to the Timer function, but from what is covered in that manual, I don't think it is possible...IFV
