“Can timer and cooking operate at the same time? Can you use the timer as a timer (for example to time the cooking of an item on the stove top) while also cooking in the microwave. In other words can the timer function as a timer at the same time the microwave is cooking? My current (and all previous microwaves I have owned) can. And this is a very helpful and important feature for me. I am looking to replace my current microwave (the magnetron is going out) and I want this feature. Please let me know. Thanks!”

Yes, although the display shows the cooking time, not the timer on the display. Timer works in background

To get the kitchen timer to display, you have to press and hold the button. Note that when both timers are active, you have to cancel the cook timer in order to cancel the kitchen timer.
