LG specifies 2" clearance and 25 3/8" depth for a total of 27 3/8" from back wall or 3 1/8" past your counter. That is the thickness of the door. Properly installed the body of the fridge will be even with the counter, and the door will extend into the room. I just ordered one. I think it makes sense to leave the open edge even with the counter and extending door into the room so there is no counter corner "bumps" in the way of loading unloading items from the unit.
