Skip using their installation kit, it save a lot of room, most windows slide sideways these days anyway. Use the provided foam. You are going to want to cut a 1x2 shim to stop the window from being slid open anyway. Fill-in above with wood. Seal seems with the provided foam. This is how I do my older 1217 model.
