• You can control the unit using WiFi. It also comes with a remote. To answer your question, no. The unit will not turn back on after a power surge or outage. You will have to hit a button or use you phone to power the unit back on

• Maybe if on eco mode but mostly the reset bottom on the plug will need to be pressed in order to turn back on after power outage.
