You cannot connect your old VHS directly to the LG External Blu-ray/DVD Writer 3D Blu-ray Disc Playback & M-DISC™ Support, Model # BE16NU50. The Host Interface for this unit is a USB 2.0 (480Mbits/s) , USB 3.0 (5Gbits/s) and its system requirements for the CPU are an Intel@Pentium D 3.2GHz or Higher (with USB 2.0). The Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz or higher is recommended. The HDD for the computer that you connect it to must have at least 30GB or more of available space (60GB for Blu-ray Disc authoring), 1 GB or higher of RAM and the recommended nVidia Graphic Cards are the GeForce 7600GT or higher / GeForce 8400 or higher (Graphic Card Driver shall meet AACS compliance criteria), and the ATI Graphic Cards, ATI Radeon HD 2400 or higher (Graphic Card Driver shall meet AACS compliance criteria)...^IFV
