That will depend on what connectivity you have on your 42" TV. The LG SK1 2.0 Channel Compact Sound Bar with Bluetooth® Connectivity can be connected to a TV in one of three ways. IT supports Bluetooth, so if your TV supports Bluetooth, you can pair the Soundbar with your TV for a wireless Bluetooth connection. It features an Optical Digital Audio Input that can be connected to the Optical Digital Audio Out on a TV which is the most common way most TVs can be connected to a Soundbar. If the above-mentioned methods are not viable and you TV has the older Analog Stereo RCA Audio Output (Red/White), you can connect those to the AUX In (3.5mm) port on the Soundbar. You will need the appropriate RCA Stereo to mini stereo cable for that...^IFV
