Should the clock display go off after a few minutes? null

There was an additional piece of paper inserted in my instruction manual that explains that after five minutes, the display turns off. There is no way to deactivate this "stand-by" functionality. I will be looking for a new home for my new microwave, so I can purchase one with a clock that functions correctly (stays on, so you can actually look at it.)

Yes it does go off as an energy saving feature. Touch any key and it will show clock time for several minutes.

So the clock turns itself off to conserve power, when you open the door the time reappears. Hopefully that answers your question.

Yes. I've owned two of this same model. The clock on the older one stayed on all the time, but the newer one goes off after a few minutes until you touch a button. I wondered if it was broken, but I read somewhere in the manual or papers that came with it that it does that to save energy.

Yes. I've scoured the manual and it appears that is normal. I looked for an option to leave on and there does not appear to be one.
