Hi Dell. We would need some clarification on " a older samsung tv remote", we are not clear on what you mean with that inquiry. The LG - 2.1-Channel Soundbar System with Wireless Subwoofer and Digital Amplifier - Black, Model # SH3K has an Optical Digital Audio Input on it that can be connected to the Optical Digital Audio Output of a TV. If your TV has such an output on it, you can connect it to the Soundbar. The only other way to connect to this SoundBar is through its' Portable 3.5 mm Input ( also referred to as the headphone jack). If your TV has the red/white RCA stereo audio outputs on it, then you can get a mini stereo to RCA stereo cable and connect to the soundbar that way...^IFV
