“playing audio from phone via bluetooth causes the unit to not connect back to the TV. I have to unplug the optical audio and reconnect. Used remote and buttons to switch input but no luck. Any suggestions?”

The sound bar has to be switched from Bluetooth to whatever else you are connected to (TV, radio, etc..) manually as it doesn't know that you aren't using the Bluetooth anymore. By pushing the "F" button, you should be able to toggle through the different inputs as needed. If not, there may be an issue with the remote or the unit itself. You shouldn't have to unplug any cables to be able to switch the input.
