• Old people ?? I resemble that remark. :) Anywho, it has a 3.5 mm audio connector, so if your TV has an output, it should work.

• If your Sony has an optical sound connection, there should no problem doing so.

• Yes, this puts the speakers in front aimed at you so you hear the sound without needing to make it too loud.

• Yes it would be good, and has volume control so you can adjust to your preference. I have another TV that I would like to also purchase one of these for. The regular volume on the TV is terrible and I know this would really help without having to turn the TV full blast. So I do plan on purchasing another sound bar in the future. They can attach to the bottom of the TV also which is a plus
