• Instructions say it can be on or off. Mine was on all the time by default, and you can use the energy button then to set it to be off by default if you desire.

• power saver shuts it off and no you cannot disable it

• It does have an energy saving feature. The display panel (& the clock) go blank after a short period of time. I just use the clock on the stove.
