The recommended clearance spacing for the sides of the LG 2.3 cu. ft. High Efficiency All-in-one Front Load Washer & Dryer in Stainless Steel, Model # WM3488HS is 1 inch. The reason for the spacing requirement is to ensure that the unit has a natural airflow around it. Keep in mind that this unit is a ventless dryer as well as being a washer and if confined in too narrow a space, that is humid may produce mildew or musty smells and it also prevents transference of noise to the walls. The unit's cabinet has a width of 24" so it will fit into a 25" opening. You do not have to worry about duct venting since the machine is ventless and doesn't require any ductwork, however, you do need to ensure enough space in the rear for waterline clearances and 4 inches should suffice but you can adjust that if you find your water lines do not require that much clearance. ^CP
