• I would consider returning it, as the big dial volume works fine on mine.

• There is a giant round, shinny knob on the front the Hi-Fi system, turn it clockwise, sound goes up, versa versa for sound to go down. But, I recommend you download the manual from LG. Ctrl + F and you can search the document.
