NO!! I purchased a French door refrigerator in November 2020 deliver and in stalled January 2021 and it stopped cooling 2 weeks later repair man said it was the compressor. My refrigerator was manufactured in July 2020. Still waiting on repairs.

Bought an LG French door refrigerator July 2020. It broke down Sept 2020. LG kept kissing off & making excuses. Finally had someone come out & he took one look & said it was the compressor but said parts had to be ordered. Well, they never came back & LG kept stalling. After being persistent & finally got a customer service agent who really cared, finally process our request for a refund. After 7 months without a refrigerator we finally got our refund. I wished I had read reviews & researched prior to purchasing LG. Never again it's the most terrible experience ever, will never recommend LG to anyone

The technician was correct to have the suction pressure at 0 psi when turned off your low side should be between 46 and 50 psi on your low side gauge. This however, is not the issue. LG refrigerators have plagued the appliance world for years. The technicians installing them are only as good as the parts provided. LG has knowingly not made any changes to their compressors and despite the reply om this post is pit out most likely by a PR yes man by LG. It is now 2021 and I am still replacing LG compressors on a weekly and sometimes daily basis. Do not believe the post below it is a lie unless you just feel like flushing 2500 plus down the toilet.

They have not. I would NEVER buy any LG product again after our experience with our french door $3,000 LG refrigerator we purchased two year ago. As with many other reviewers here, the cooling stopped about six weeks ago after two years of service. We have called a local serviceman, who diagnosed a bad compressor. Since LG has five year warranty for parts and service for the compressor, we called their customer service number. They have issued repair authorization number, promising we'll get a call back in couple of days. Nobody called. We called them again; they issued 'CNN', saying they are still locating someone to fix the problem. After three weeks and many calls from us to them (and many new CNN numbers), they said the local service is not willing to repair it, which was not true, since we have verified with the local service, claiming LG is not willing to pay for the warranty repair (this was not their first case either). Another call followed, where we have requested a refrigerator replacement. The answer from LG was they needed an approval from management, that takes 2-4 weeks. After six weeks without a refrigerator, we are still waiting for their call and any action to get their issue fixed. This is the worst experience we've had with any appliance company.

Two year old refrigerator, compressor fails. Its been changed. The Customer Service tries. They have their problems in Manila. Finally get an LG "Specialist" show up. Changes the compressor. Shorts on the freon. Has to come back. Still short. Leaves the compressor at Zero psi suction. Should be about 3. Refrigerator main compartment only gets down to 38F. The freezer is ok. The main compartment should get to 33. That is its capacity. The Technician and customer Service do not return calls and texts. Outside technicians don't touch LG products. They don't pay for warranty work.

Purchased LG Refrigerator in May 2018, compressor failed January 2021. After reading about the class action suit (not eligible) and the other posts here, decided to purchase a Whirlpool replacement. This refrigerator fell into the twilight zone between the cutoff date for the class action suit and the supposed compressor design change by LG in 2019. As the repairman said: "LG should stick to making just electronic products."

No. Ours was manufactured 2018/05 and after owning it for 2 years there was a “sealed system” problem. $500 in labour as in Canada only parts are covered not labour. After the new compressor was installed it was not fixed and we’re told we need a new fridge. We are now stuck without a fridge due to covid delays.

Nope!!! Bought my LG refrigerator in June, 2017, it stopped cooling in January 2021. I am still have to deal w LG to try to get a reimbursement. I don't want it replace because I don't want to have to go through the frustration of dealing w customer service. I've had the compressor replaced 2 times. Now it is deemed unreparable. It's been almost 3 months that I haven't had a refrigerator & the closest restaurant is about 20 minutes away & the nearest full service grocery store is about 30 minutes away. My LG fridge compressor died 2.5 years after the 2016 purchase. Technician said it was really common with LG's. The new Compressor went out again 2.5yrs later, so now I have two compressor fails in the first 5 years on this LG fridge. Plus ruined hardwood floor (from melted ice from the ice maker while gone for the weekend) and plenty of food to throw out. But the service depot to fix takes many days, which is the most inconvenient when just trying to get a call back and schedule takes the better part of a week. Based on this experience LG refrigerators do seem to be mostly garbage polished up to look good.

NO! Bought an LG frig in June 2014, compressor failed in Mar 2021. We were still within warranty (7 yrs on compressor; 10 yrs on linear compressor) so called LG support. Told us they'd cover the part but not the labor which would be around $700 or more! Started shopping around & researching online for other refrigerators and heard about this LG compressor issue so we are definitely staying away from LG. Bought the Kennmore Elite in July 2016. Compressor went out in Jan 2020 & had it replaced. Paid $525 labor to replace it. Itwent out again in Jan21 but the service tech did something to make it work without replacing the part. Now 3 months later April 21, the 2nd compressor isn't working. Will have to pay another $525 to get it replaced. I paid $3000 for the frig so don't want to buy a new one. If this compressor dies in a year, I will buy a new one and not a Kennmore or LG product!!

LG uses a linear compressor which will likely go out within weeks to up to 15mos... up to less than 4yrs IF you're lucky. Their MO is to send a repair tech out 3-4 times, followed by another company's tech (3-4 times), after which their hope is that you'll throw in the towel and just buy a new fridge, rather than go through a 3rd and 4th company coming out to replace the same parts everyone else already has (compressor, coils - fridge & freezer, mob...)... this will leave you without a fridge for a minimum 4-12 mos (Google LG complaints, including Class Action Law Suit). They'll also ignore phone calls and texts after their initial contact. A $3,000 (sale price) 4 door fridge should last longer than (in my case) 3yrs, 10mos! 

FYI... Samsung fridges uses LG compressors, so avoid them as well. We just bought a GE that looks similar to my LG but uses a reciprocating compressor.

Yes, according to the factory LG repairman that repaired our unit, LG has addressed the problem. The issue was that the original compressor ran hot and the compressor was fitted with a "plastic" piston which broke down over time. In the updated compressor, the plastic piston was replaced with a steel piston and hopefully fixes the problem. In my case the compressor failed in 30 months. LG had a factory repairman out in 48 hours and replaced the compressor free of charge. But it does not seem to be true that after 2 class-action lawsuits LG has done nothing to mitigate the mistake.

No. Bought new March 21. Ice makers failed in May. Began work with LG for warranty repair in June. Informed this week (August 21) by LG authorized repair shop that problem is failing compressor and no replacement compressors available. This repair shop actually asked me to tell them if I got any satisfaction from LG so they could advise their many other angry LG customers. Refrigerator is now too warm and am losing food. Working with LG for refund. Service, timely response and concern for customer is non-existent at LG. No. This is by far the worst refrigerator we have ever owned. The compressor was replaced less than 2 yrs ago and it is out again. We had the ice maker replaced, then the water dispenser stopped working. The repair for that meant replacing the whole door, that's right the whole door with the dispenser had to be replaced. All repairs took months. I can't even image what the cost would be if we didn't have a whole home warranty. I am sure with this next repair the cost for repairs will total more than the original cost of the refrigerator.

Any claim by LG that they have fixed the problem or that customer service is a priority is, in my experience, very far from the truth. Here I sit almost 8 weeks since my refrigerator compressor broke and they have no plan to fix it. Keep in mind that it is still under warranty and they do not appear interested in meeting their warranty obligations.

NO!!!! Had a repair of a 2018 fridge by Kemore with an LG compressor. Fridge went out April 2021 took unti April 26th to repair, went out again AIG 2021 and still without a fridge! As someone mentioned in an earlier post , I too missed the class action law suit, which was also a joke cause it only addressed certain model fridges instead of the real core problem THE LG COMPRESSOR!!! After another visit from repairman it worked two days and died. Now they want is to wait another three/four weeks for new parts to rebuild. That’s hot going to happen. No this has been a complete nightmare scenario on top of our lovely pandemic. We've been without a fridge going on 4 weeks now!

After being on support calls with LG 2 times and having a repair person cancel on me I finally have them come out to look at my 3.5 year old fridge.  Of course I can't get the new condenser installed due to the mother board not being able to be updated via software that the tech has. Apparently the new design on the condenser needs software updates.

So they are ordering a new motherboard even though mine isn't broker and I am 12 days from a repair again assuming the parts show up with the supply shortage.

LG doesn't care - sure they keep telling me that there was nobody in my area for 100 miles that repairs their units.  Multiple calls to other appliance stores tell me they don't work on LG.

Supposedly this will all be fixed for free under warranty which is the only reason I have not gone OFFICE SPACE on this fridge and put it on youtube and social media.  Oh and get this the repair man told me the new condensers are not reliable either.

We're gonna gamble and wait until Feb 12th to see if it actually gets fixed, and the next time this dies it's going to the graveyard below.

I will never buy an LG product again.  The repair person told me whirlpool and GE are better.  He actually said he just bought a whirlpool himself.

Also from experience trying to fix and LG dishwasher avoid those due to parts being a pain in the butt to get locally.  I finally repaired it and it lasted a year before we replace it with a Bosch.

Appliances just don't last, but they should fo more than 3.5 years.  Life is good with LG?

The repair service identified a failed compressor which would cost $1200 to replace, and they wouldn't guarantee that for more than 3 months. They note that they find multiple LG fridge compressor failures each month.

My 5 yr old LG fridge's compressor just went out. I was told by the LG tech that came to look at it that the compressor problems were caused by LG not putting the proper kind of coolant In the compressors... LG, several years ago, got wind of an environmental regulation that was going to happen, requiring them to use a more natural butane coolant, R600 instead of the R134 coolant they were using. To be proactive, LG started putting compressors capable of handling R600 coolant in all their fridges. The only problem was, at the time, they couldn't obtain any R600 coolant so they had to put R134 coolant in a compressor designed for R600 coolant. This caused significant problems in the lifespans of the compressors. Now, supposedly, all new LG fridges sold only contain R600 coolant so since that is what all those compressors needed in the first place, the problem has been solved. Supposedly, it is illegal to sell a new LG fridge with the old R134 coolant in it. It has to be R600. Just curious if anyone has bought a new LG fridge with the R600 coolant and if indeed this did resolve the compressor problem?

The fact that i've had the compressors go bad on 3 different appliances from different brands (LG, Frigidaire, GE) tells me the issue isn't limited to GE and these brands maybe getting their compressors from the same source. Specifically to LG, my refrigerator compressor went bad after two years and when i made a claim they had someone come out two weeks later and fix it. This was all through the manufacturer's warranty. No need to purchase Geek Squad for any of these appliances as they all have solid 5 year warranties on the part that goes bad.

No. We bought LG side by side refrigerator in 2015. Replaced the compressor only after 6 months under warranty. Today, we are replacing another compressor.
Plan to stick with USA models from now on. Better service and better warranty. My second fridge GE is over 30 years old and is working fine.

Fortunately I had a home owners warranty when the compressor went out. However it took them 15 weeks to settle with me. 15 weeks without a refrigerator! No, I purchased an LG unit in September 2020 and the compressor failed 1-year later. Since LG switched to the new refrigerant (600A), there are not many technicians certified to make the repair. I've been waiting 3-months for a technician since there is only one certified tech in my area. Working with LG customer service to receive compensation isn't any easier either.

Nope, purchased LG French Door in 2016 for $2000, compressor failed 2022 (10 yr warranty). Since labor and service call not covered, cost was $715.00 on 5/31/22. Today is July 31st, compressor is failing again. What a hunk of junk. Do not buy LG or Samsung. To be honest, I don't know if it's possible to buy a decent refrigerator.

BTW, this junk LG replaced a Maytag refrigerator I purchased in 2000, I purchased a 5 yr addon warranty for $400 extra. At year 6, it failed (coil) if I'm not mistaken. So spending extra on a warranty is not worth it in my opinion.

No.  We purchased an LG at the end of March, 2022.  It never worked correctly.  It totally failed and defrosted everything in the freezer last week (July 15, 2022).  The Dealer refuses to accept it back.  The Dealer cannot get parts.  The CH E error code indicates that we cannot repair it.  LG is trying to get parts for it.  It IS under warranty.  This is a product to AVOID.  The Model No. is:  LRFCS25D3S. Our dealer told us this week to "get 2 ice collers" as we wait for parts and service.  The Service Dept at our reputable dealer is OVERWHELMED with returns and problems.  We are without refrigeration in our kitchen indefinitely.  Help, please!

NO! I bought my built-in LG refrigerator in 2016.  The compressor went out in 2019.  It took 4 weeks to fix.  Now it's 2022 and the compressor is out again.  LG will replace the part under warranty, but not the labor.  The "authorized technician" I got from their website wanted to charge me $2300 in labor.  After an hour on the phone with LG, and mentioning that I declined to participate in the Class Action Lawsuit (bad decision on my part), they owed me.  Eventually they agreed to cover the labor this time.  Next time it goes out, I will NOT repair.  I will buy a different brand. So much time wasted with these clowns.

Nope don't believe so. Bought our French door refrigerator Dec 29th 2020. On Dec 18th 2021 Ice maker stopped then next day CLE code. Compressor stopped.Called LG. " a service technician will call you within the week" No call. Refrigerator code dis-appears so I wasn't worried.Christmas passes and then CLE code again on a Saturday night. Next day its gone but Ice maker still not working. Code keeps coming up then dis-appearing. No call from LG finally I get back in touch with LG and they have no record of my call? Got a thermometer and have found that the fridge and freezer are both running warmer then they should. Moved all food out of refrigerator as getting this dud fixed is probably not going to happen by the sounds of things. They keep passing us around. After 2 weeks got a service tech to come out and confirm compressor but won't replace it as it as the new refrigerant in it..sigh. Back to the drawing board again. I thought they fixed the issue but obviously not.

No they have NOT. I have a counter-depth $2500 + brick in my kitchen. Great looking but internal pantry temp is 55+ most days; sometimes it gets down to 50. The freezer goes down to 20 but does not stay there. Mostly runs at high 30s to low 40s. Service has been a nightmare. 4 weeks to get a tech. He installs new parts—compressor, evaporator and so on. None of it works. Now it is 2 more weeks until another visit that will likely include more parts—according to the folks at the repair center. This is a nightmare. We have been using a mini fridge and buying ice daily. What a ripoff. Please do not by this lovely beast. I am so sorry I did. I did do research but thought the issue had been handled. NOPE. Don’t DO it.

i purchased a new home in March 2018 and ordered LG's products for the house (French Door LG LFXS28968S, Dishwasher, laundry machines, and gas cooking range) and purchased extended warranty on the refrigerator. last month (Aug 2021) the refrigerator stopped cooling and i called LG. When they saw that i had extended warranty on the unit, they promptly washed their hands off my case and directed me to my warranty provider. The warranty provider sends in a technician who did not even touch the appliance and said its a compressor issue and that he'd order parts. Its been 10 days, and i am calling LG every day for the parts ETA, they give me dates for some other parts but not the compressor, and dutifully point me to the technician's employer (transglobal), and Transglobal keeps directing me to the Extended Warranty provider. LG does not even answer my question about their publicized claim of a 10 year warranty on their compressor.

I knew about the problems with LG fridge and thus purchased the Extended Warranty. But, i didn't realize that "a lemon will be a lemon" regardless of the warranties covering it. 

Now i know.

Never again will consider an LG. Will also teach my kids and grandkids to stay away from LG appliances.

No they haven't. Also when you call up their support to see if they'd help with splitting the labor to replace the compressor they're not very helpful. I was very courteous and polite on the phone and not irate at all. When I called up to ask if they'd be willing to help with the labor and split the cost, Misha the first phone rep laughed and said why would we do that? I said to retain good will towards your customers and make them happy. I explained how I've been a good customer and have purchased many LG products and major appliances over the years. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they transferred me to an Ali and she pretended that she couldn't hear me. She'd stop talking when I'd say hello or ask if she could hear me, it wasn't very odd and not professional. They ask for your phone number when you first call in case you get disconnected, they didn't even call back after feigning they couldn't hear me. I don't believe supervisors would act like that but maybe LG's does? They didn't even make book an appointment to send out a repair person. I guess with Covid and the pandemic this is the best a customer can expect. I'll call the Geek Squad and see if they can send someone out even though my extended warranty has expired and see how much the cost will be. Then decide what to do from there.

I didn’t realize their linear compressors were a problem until some internet searching and then I realized there was a class action suit as well as rampant complaints of failing units. Would never recommend their refrigerators to anyone.

I purchased LG French door frig in April 2023.  It is now Feb 2025, and I am getting error message "FFE", supposedly frost build up on freezer fan.  I've spoken to multiple repairs services in Sarasota area, and none will work on it, stating is the compressor not working correctly.  LG support is trying to help me.  The error code comes and goes. it's frustrating. I would rate LG low on reliability.  LG is rated high on consumer reports and I recently berated them via email for not rating LG lower on reliability.

No they have not!  I bought French Door model in 2018, and the repair guy is here right now replacing the compressor, for $1100.  Needless to say, I will never buy another LG appliance.  I also had an issue with a dishwasher, bought at the same time.

No but if you got to LG out of warranty support, they ill fix it for flat fee,  The compressor is made of plastic valves that fail easily.  It still runs but won't cool, giving the repair man some head scratching.

Absolutely not.  Bought our refrigerator in 2020, it just failed.  Called LG and got the run around, lost over $800 in food as it failed early in the evening with no warning.  Woke up to a mess.  Called back hoping to get someone more helpful, nothing.  Told me I would need to get a repair technician.  When they look it up, there is no repair cener or technician within 100 miles of me.  Told me to find someone and then they would look at his recommendation.  These people are awful.  Thinking another lawsuit will be needed.

No, although I'm one of the fortunate ones.  Bought the refrigerator in May, 2015.  Compressor gave out last week , in 2022, so it almost lasted 7 years!  Called LG service and they sent a repairman the following Tuesday (frig broke the Friday before).  I found their call center to be helpful and courteous, even though you could tell he was reading from a script. What got me was they charged $125 to reserve the "service window" and then charged a flat $250 for the repair.  This was all for labor as the parts were covered by the 10-year warranty.  New compressor is way quieter than the old one.  Let's see if we get another 7 years!

We purchase our great Kenmore / Lg refrigerator  in May 2017,
worked great until August 2021. Notice water on our floor in front of the refrigerator then notice items in the freezer soft. Holy Cow our great Elite refrigerator is sick. I called Sears we will send repairman out in two weeks, $149.00 (( but )) this comes off the repair bill if needed. I told them the problem. The repair man came out, Wow I just happen to have your model compressor in my truck. Of course LG has about 2,000 complaints about this compressor. So they ( two technicians )  installed the new compressor guaranteed for 90 days. $546.22 , 5months 22 days this compressor went south too. I called and they said we will send out a repair man in 8 days $149.00 this off a new compressor. I found out LG is stalling the same defective compressor. Don't we have some type of protection from graft like this. Geeeeez this America ! Where is our Attorney General's

No.  This is the 2nd LG fridge that has had this issue.  The first had the compressor replaced 2x before I (mistakenly) bought another one.  Less than 3 years in, the 2nd fridge compressor has died now.  I will not make the same mistake in buying a LG fridge again.

My compressor just failed bought in may 2020, not even 2 years. Besides that the ice machine has barely worked which is also a major issue if you search it. I was dealing with that and probably already wouldn't have bought another but I definitely wouldn't now. Warranty is only a year. They may waranty the compressor itself for 5-10 years but still make you pay the labor.

I don’t know but they have definitely not fixed their warranty service problem. My four-year old LG refrigerator has been dead for a month. LG uses a third party service Asurion and they are terrible! They don’t show up for appointments and then put you at the back of the line; they had the wrong part shipped; they have no parts on the truck, etc, etc. I have actually bought a new GE and will give the LG to family members after it is fixed. The LG refrigerator and warranty’s service are not reliable enough for a primary refrigerator. Maybe they are exiting the US. refrigerator market. Also I don’t think Asurion is really a service company, I think LG buys warranty insurance from them and the business model is based on denying claims or resolving them as cheaply as possible.

I thought we were the lucky ones after purchasing the counter depth LG in 2017. Fortunately got the extended 5 year warranty. First two repairs involved the ice maker unit that had to be replaced, and then just today, the compressor failed. Woke up to water on the floor and a full refrigerator full and room temperature. Now I have to wait for another warranty repair and debate whether it's even worth making a claim. LG appears to make customers go through a lot of hoops to get any compensation. SO disappointed. Will never buy another LG product.

Anyone just seeing this thread now should know that LG settled a class action lawsuit in 2020 but they're being sued again for the very same issue they claimed they fixed. As of Feb 2024 there were over 100 people taking part in the lawsuit and they were in the process of trying to get class action status. This time the they're also being sued for fraud.

Our refrigerator had good styling and functionality, but it did seem to have a problem with moisture condensing on the contents of the refrigerator and, six months after purchase, the “stainless steel” exterior on the doors and drawers started to show signs of rust. Reasonable quality stainless steel does not rust and is not magnetic; the faces of the doors and drawers were magnetic. We had six years of use with that refrigerator, which was half of LG's projected lifespan of 12-13 years. This occurred despite the fact that we moved the refrigerator out approximately every 6 months to clean it, vacuum the vents, remove the lower panel, and brush and vacuum accessible parts.

The Linear Compressor Problem
LG has faced problems with its linear compressor for 10 or more years. As the linear compressors continue to fail, LG has sent out technicians for linear compressor repair. Technicians use the same defective LG-manufactured part (linear compressor) as replacements that are certain to fail again.
If a failed refrigerator was under warranty, LG would pay for the compressor part, but labor and associated needed repair parts could add up to $1000.00. A problem now is finding a technician in your area who will want to work on an LG if you are willing to wait several weeks.
I unplugged the refrigerator, waited several minutes and reset it by plugging it in again. I used the start relay, then received an error code on the back electrical panel: Linear Compressor.

LG has settled many class action lawsuits over the past 10± years. Payouts range from several hundred dollars to almost your full retail price depending upon what class you filed with and/or how much documentation you can provide.

At this time, it would seem that LG would be wise to admit that there was a problem, settle with everyone, and move on.

South Korea’s LG (Lucky GoldStar) Electronics Inc. has and does produce some good electronics and appliances. They should manufacture what they are best at but not refrigeration.

Never buy a LG fridge........ My LG fridge Manufacture date is shown as Nov 2020 and it stopped cooling on Sep 2023 within 36 months  ...The issue is with the compressor and the compressor had to be replaced.
