“Will a space with a width of 35 7/8 be sufficient if the doors and hinges sit outside the space?”

• You will want more space. I had a 36 1/6 space and it was a too tight squeeze......and it barely fit. I would say that if your opening is exactly 35 7/8 then you might want to think hard about buying a refer that is 35.5" in width.
