Keeping the Ice Maker on before connecting the water line or if it is not connected will damage the ice maker in the ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 22.8 Cu. Ft. Please try again later.In the freezer on the left side above the plastic tray that is meant to catch the automatically made ice cubes, there is a switch that turns the ice maker on and off. You have to bend down and look back past the tray to see it (it's in a difficult to see location). Put the switch in the "off" position and you won't have to hook up a waterline.I would recommend that you make sure that the water inlet is sealed off so that nothing (ants, small spiders. dust, etc.) can get into the refrigerator's internal water piping.
