“Can this "boombox" play without being plugged into a wall of a house, or does it have to be plugged in to play? And does anyone know if it is possible to hook this up to a vehicle for power? Thanks.”

To use in a vehicle, you would need a transformer to convert the 12V circuit of the car to 115V standard household circuit. It probably could be done, but would cost much more than just buying a unit made for a car.

Cars batteries typically have an nominal output of 12 volts DC. The actual full charge is 14.4 volts. You would need increase the voltage and amperage from your car battery to operate the OM4560 which requires a higher voltage. That means you would need to construct a battery bank with enough batteries to supply the required voltage and amperage and they would need to be connected properly in series or in parallel. A series connection adds the voltage of the batteries but keeps the same amperage and a parallel connection will increase the amperage but keep the voltage the same...^IFV
