“Twice all the ice in both refrigerator freezers has melted and there were no alarms. I believe the door was cracked open both times but the alarm did not sound. Is this the correct operation? The alarms do work when doors are wide open.”

The door alarm for the ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 23.5 Cu. Ft. French Door Counter-Depth Refrigerator - Black Stainless Steel, Model # LRFXC2406D will wok when the doors are wide open and if the doors are very slightly open, the alarms may not sound...^IFV

That isn't correct... hasn't happen to mine. I have the same kind. Alarm always rings when door is open either top or bottom it goes off. You need to get your checked.
