We bought this fridge and, like you, did not want the ice maker hooked up to a water line, so we just didn't have the ice maker connected when the fridge was delivered and installed. No problem. The delivery guys just rolled the fridge over the the wall and plugged the appliance cord into the standard electrical outlet. We just make ice cubes the way we always have--with ice cube trays filled from the tap--put them in the freezer, and dump them into the bin after they freeze. If the supply runs low, we make more ice cubes.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have an ice maker, I just choose not to hook it up to water. I make my own ice and empty the trays in the big ice plastic holder where they would normally go. You can turn off the electric ice maker mechanism.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I do not believe it can be removed, but we just turned it off since we don't have a water line. There's a small switch on the back of the ice maker.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The ice maker does not seem to take up much space, we just use the ice "bucket" as a container for smaller pieces. We don't use ice, so we actually paid a plumber to disconnect/cap-off the water line. We did not try to remove the ice maker, it is cold in the freezer compartment anyway, you just don't get any ice because there is no water to make ice!
