It’s what happens when meat left in your freezer for a long time loses moisture and begins to look discolored or shriveled. The surface may be covered in ice crystals. It occurs when the water molecules inside the meat form ice crystals due to prolonged exposure to cold, dry air in the freezer. The process of sublimation, where water directly changes from a solid to a gas without becoming liquid, also contributes to this issue. The main causes of freezer burn include: Exposure to Air: When meat is not properly sealed, air can come into contact with its surface, leading to dehydration and freezer burn. Temperature Fluctuations from frequent opening and closing of the freezer, which can cause temperature variations that contribute to freezer burn. Improper Packaging from using inadequate packaging materials that are not airtight, which allow air to penetrate and cause freezer burn. To prevent freezer burn, it is essential to package food properly and keep the freezer at the right temperature. Using airtight containers and minimizing air exposure can significantly reduce the risk of freezer burn...^Ivan.
