There is a button on the the refrigerator that says door alarm. Just press the button and the light will change to off and the alarm function will deactivate.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.A better question would be, "why would you want to turn off the door alarm?" I can't imagine a reason for turning it off. The alarm goes off if the door is accidently left open for more than 60 seconds. It works for the refrigerator and/or the freezer section. Naturally, it comes on if you leave the door open while you are loading your groceries for an extended period, but it is not very loud, nor is it unpleasantly obnoxious. As someone who is rather sensitive to noises, this is a very quiet machine and the door alarm is rather gentle. I feel it is useful to have as once in a while the freezer door may not be closed all the way - it seems to need a definite push and if the bottom bins are overloaded, the top sliding draw of the freezer could bump into food which may be stacked too high in those bins.
