• Water is dispensed at the outer opening and ice is dispensed at the inner opening where the thermos can be placed. But even if you would like to dispense ice by placing the thermos, you will have to keep the thing pressed. So, either way you will have to use your hand to press the switch or whatever you call it to dispense.
