I ran into same issue. New fridge yet water had a chemical taste & smell. After time consuming You Tubing I came to realize the filter has 2 adjustments or positions. Make sure filter is in 2nd position. I was unaware & mine was in 1st position. After I adjusted, it was almost immediate, in both the taste & smell. Didn't have to change out 2 gallons for that to happen! Easy fix once you know! Karen

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is nearly gone for me. I filtered about 4+ gallons through it before I started drinking it. Instructions said 2 gallons but that wasn't enough I could still taste it. I can just faintly taste it now and I've only had the fridge for 4 days. So I'm confident it will go away.
