To have your TV power on to your last used input instead of the Home screen, please navigate to Settings > General > System > Additional Settings > Home Settings and set the Power On Screen (or Home Auto Launch) to Off or Recent Input.

Took some research and tinkering but I was able to set the default to an HDMI port.

after clicking HDMI 1 then click "enter" button - it's the circle button in the lower half in the middle of the 4 arrows that go left or right & up or down
