Note that physically, the threads are actually 9/16" diameter, for this type of fitting, designated by hose size 3/8". The drain hose lets you choose one of 3 different common diameters for connecting to your drain plumbing: designated by 5/8", 3/4", or 1" All you need is a utility knife, if you choose one of the smaller diameters at the drain hose end.

A:AnswerMy unit attached to an air gap I had previously installed for old dishwasher. I don't believe this machine ships with an air gap. You probably have to buy one separately.
