“I just bought this LG24mp59ht monitor at Best Buy. I could not use hdmi connection but using dsub cables to my acer aspire pc m5811. No volume, greyed out in the menu. Will installing the drivers give me sound? Help! Thanks”

If your pc does not have speakers, then you will get no sound. The monitor does not have speakers, but it does have a 3.5mm aux out port where a set of speakers can be plugged in.

You cannot get audio through a D-Sub, only through HDMI. You will need to run an 1/8"cable to get audio.
