• Yes. To operate the machine, either press Start and close the door within four seconds or close the door and press Start. (An alert will sound when the door is not closed within 4 seconds after you press Start button). ^Nikki

• Yes, once you select start it will start a count down allowing you to shut the dishwashers door, and the dishwasher will start
