Candidly, your immune system stops working if you stop challenging it. The water comes from your tap. If you drink your tap water? You’ll be fine. Or, you could attach a filtration system at the entry port of the ice maker. That still won’t deal with the internal system but regardless of how you set this up the instructions do suggest that you run the ice maker for 48 hours and dispose of the ice. If that’s not enough for you to be at ease over this tempest in a tea pot issue? Make your own ice in the amply sized freezer and store your own.
