• It would be a Glide 'N' Serve drawer. You would use it to store food items at a different temperature than the regular refrigerator area. ^ Jamal

• Both compartments are crispers, used for vegetables and fruits. The large bottom one is used for meats. But to be honest, you can use them for what best suits your needs.
