It depends on your humidity level or environment. We have about 49-50% and have not had water buildup. It has a mechanism to evaporate the water if it’s not too much. I believe it will have an alarm if too much water builds up and it needs to be drained.

You unplug the rubber drain stopper in the back and let the water flow out. I usually roll it over to my shower. I also put the unit on a boot tray in case it fills up too much or I forget to empty, just in case it drops out.
