“Is it possible to disable the internal ice maker and use the ice bin space for food? I'm thinking that during periods of low ice usage I could gain extra freezer space that way.”

• Yes. The 2nd ice is optional. Bin comes right out.

• You can turn off the ice maker in the freezer and use that space if you choose. The ice maker in the door is separate and you can still have a (smaller) ice supply with the lower ice maker off. You can turn it back on and build up a supply if you anticipate an increased need (guests, dinners, party, etc)
