Will this work using a firestick only, no cable? null

There is 1 HDMI port on the back. The Firestick would plug in that way but would stick out a few inches from the back and probably put pressure on the HDMI connector. My Firestick came with a short 3" HDMI cable that would allow the Firestick to hang better and not stick out.
