• It does not contain sound it seems. I thought the same thing that it would have sound but it wouldn't make a sound at all while watching YouTube videos.

• It does not have built-in speakers, but there is headphone connector on it.

• This monitor has a headphone jack on the rear port panel which offers whatever sound is on the computer at this jack. (I tested it . . it's definitely live.) So, you should be able to drive POWERED SPEAKERS or hand off to a stereo receiver or something similar. The monitor controls the signal level.
