• This TV has built in tuners. It does not require a converter box. ^CP

• If you have Comcast it does not, You can download the Xfinity stream beta app for cable tv. No extra charge. Only LG, Samsung or Roku can get it.

• Technically it depends on your cable provider. You will only be able to receive unencrypted channels (Clear QAM). If your cable company, like mine (Armstrong), encrypts everything but the FCC mandated cable access channels you will not have much to watch without a set top box.
