“I bought a USB-C cable to connect my MacBook Pro to the monitor except I can't get anything to display on the monitor. It says there is no signal when it is connected. Why is this happening?”

You'll want to make sure you have the correct cable. The white USB C charger cable included with Macs do not support data transfer for monitors. You'll need a thunderbolt 3 cable or a USB C cable that supports data transfers for monitors ( you can tell its the right one if the cable is pretty thick and the USB C cable part is also thick and longer ( about an inch). I was shocked when my MacBooks cable did not work and had to try a different USB C cable I use with my external HDD.
