• No, it does not have to be on a pedestal. I prefer not having the pedestals.

• I don't think it has to be. The one I purchased didn't come with one so I don't think it's necessary.

• No the front loader does not need a pedestal.

• No, this machine does not have to be on a pedestal. The opening is at the same height as a normal front-loading dryer opening so the only reason you would need a pedestal is if you don't want to bend over that far to pull the laundry out.

• No, it doesn't; mine works just fine setting on the floor and it comes with no skid pads for the legs without the pedestal.
