“We have a 13 year old LG front loader, only problem outside of regular maintenance is the mold on the door gasket. How has LG improved the mold situation on the new models. Thanks”

We’re on our 2nd front loader. 1st lasted 12 years and we always left it open a crack. Different brand. No mold or odor problems. We do the same with this one with the same results.

Ultra Large Capacity Front Load Washer with Coldwash Technology and Wi-Fi Connectivity in White, Model # WM3500CW the 'Cleaning the Door Seal' instructions on page 24 advise you to clean the door seal once a month to prevent build-up of dirt. If you use your washer everyday, you will need to clean the door seal more frequently. The instructions advise you to wear rubber gloves as you will be using a sponge soaked in a solution of a 3/4 cup (177 ml) of liquid Chlorine Bleach diluted in 1 gallon (3.8 L) of water to wipe around the door seal. This will ensure the seal stays clean and buildup does not happen.
