• This unit has load sensing. The time will be displayed after load sensing has detected the load size. Please note, the time displayed is only an estimate. ^Daphane

• The dashes go away and then you get the set time come on. I think it senses the amount of clothes, etc. Not sure.

• The dashes disappear after the machine starts. After you enter all your choices for the load and press the blinking start button on the right, the washer calculates the total time and displays it instead of the dashes.
